Health – The Benefits for Being Physical Active

I have been holding back on blogging about health for several reasons!

I don’t have any nutritional nor physical certifications.

But more importantly, there is not a standardized and simple yardstick for the average people to property gauge their health.

The fact that the famed theoretical physicist Stephan Hawking who died in 2018 at the age of 76 – spent the majority of his life on a wheel chair lived a fuller life than 95 percents of the population.

It is like playing golf with one arm and one leg tightly bounded by a rope – and repeatedly won Masters Tournament on the yearly basis.

Mr. Hawking is the extreme case in the health spectrum where a healthy mind will take you a long way.

What about the Terminator – Arnold Schwarzenegger who won Mr. Universe five times and Mr. Olympia seven times, went on to become the one of the A-list actor in Hollywood and finished with the two-term governor of California.

Mr. Schwarzenegger is on the extreme end of the health spectrum where a healthy body will take you a long way. (Disclaimer – I do not consider the current state of body building as a whole is a healthy sport).

For most of us the healthy balance of mind and body is rested in between the mile markers left behind by these two very public icons.

Here at 1DesignerLife.com, we will look at health from the holistic first person point a view and that first person is you.

The inspiration you find here will be the framework to hold the details – YOU and ONLY YOU can fill in the details.

Recently, I went in for my first colonoscopy as a 50th birthday present.

This is the first time in my entire life, I felt healthier than the average population – the feeling is similar to the experience I felt when I crossed the financial independence mile marker.

The first benefit for being physically active is the enhancement of your natural capability to endure and recover from most medical procedures.

Most of us will eventually need the medical establishment to assist with prescreening routines regardless of health just to be proactive!

The morning of the scheduled colonoscopy, I tabulated that there were approximately 10% of the patients showed up were rejected because of they were not healthy enough to take on the low risk medical procedure.

The rejection was the combined results from the measurements of your temperature, blood pressure, pulse rate, the reviews of your medical history from multiple grades and disciplines of nurses, MD specialists, and direct conversations with patients.

The most challenging part about the colonoscopy procedure is the bowel preparation – the day before where you have to drink a full gallon of prescript Golytely solution to clean the intestine.

The overall experience was such insignificant – I could have return to work within five minutes after the procedure. Nevertheless, I did follow the recommended guideline post-op just to be thorough.

The table below listed the high frequency operations and their associated surgery times along with recovery times.

I had the appendectomy operation approximately ten years ago. The surgery was a nonevent and within two weeks, I was back in the gym at 90 percents capability.

If you are a gym rat, there is a high probability you will experience shoulder related irritations. Without acute awareness to this discomfort, most gym ratters have a high tolerance for pain – and reduce the weight or change the workout routine, you will need rotator cuff repair down the road.

Two of my gym buddies, one is in his late 30’s and the other is in his early 60’s. Both of them had the shoulder arthroscopy procedure – their recovery time was less than four months time frame.

Being physical active maximized the efficacy of the latest advancement in medicine – if and when you are in need of the care.

The second benefit for being physically active is the enhancement in clarity of your natural five basic senses.

Every single one of us experience life through the five natural basic senses – touch, sight, hearing, smell and taste.

Experiences ranges from the wide spectrum of pleasures are positively correlated to the strength of these five senses – inevitably as we get older, aging of the biological mechanism will lessen in the acuity.

Hence – the tasteless in foods, the nosedive sex drive, the flimsy in agility, the agitation in thought are clearly signs of aging process – gaining ground!

Below is an excellent expected visual acuity by age (www.allaboutvision.com).

I can attest to the presbyopia fact. I began to feel the strain of reading beginning of last year when I turned 49 years old – but most of the time, I can read without the need of glasses despite 8 to 10 hours per day working on my laptop.

Don’t get panic if one of your five basic senses is under par in comparison with the peers in your age range. Collectively, your five basic senses work as a team – they will compensate for others to give you the best of life experience.

You must treat them with good diet and exercise regularly!

The third benefit for being physically active is the augmentation in social and economic opportunities

In the eastern culture, it is normalcy for people to worship the prosperity Buddha – rubbing his fat belly will increase your chance of winning in the financial game.

There are scientific studies in the past 30 years that showed the steady growth in correlation between obesity and household income.

(www.cdc.gov, PIR is poverty income ratio)

Although the correlation is less clear when race, education and genders are taken into the consideration – it is not far fetch to conclude that in general fit people have more economic opportunities when all factors are normalized.

We are superficial animals by nature. Regardless of right or wrong, visually fit is a superficial virtual that clicked with social values – hence, the opportunities and the confidence to embrace the favorable circumstances are naturally connected.

If being physical active will win you more resources…

If being physical active will give you the life experience with greater fidelity…

If being physical active will enhance your survival capability and extend your longevity…

Why are you not moving?
